Carnivale, in February on the ten days before Lent. The events culminate in a giant open air masked ball in the Piazza.
The Annual Regatta, the first Sunday in September, is a spectacular gondolier race in front of the the whole city, along the Grand Canal.
The Venice Biennale, held on alternate years, June to September and features international Art exhibitions, talks and performances.
